Come hear our Mayor Mike Collins give his last State of the Village before his retirement. Each year our Mayor presents what has been happening in the Village of Plainfield the prior year as well as what is to come. You will not want to miss this one.
Mayor Collins was elected Village President in 2009 and has served three consecutive terms. His commitment to public service is also seen in his service to the Village as a Trustee (1999-2007) and as a Plainfield Fire Protection District Trustee from 1989-1999. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1964-1968 and as a Plainfield Police Officer from 1968-1969. He then worked for the Illinois State Police from 1969-1998. Mayor Collins currently serves on the WESCOM (Western Will County Communications Center) Board and is a member of the Will County Center for Economic Development (CED), Will County Governmental League (WCGL), and District 202 Foundation for Excellence Alumni Hall of Fame. Under Mayor Collins’ leadership, economic development has flourished with the expansion of Diageo, the opening of the Diageo distribution facility, and the development of the Boulevard anchored by Costco. Mayor Collins is also proud of the infrastructure improvements that have occurred during his tenure including construction of the Lockport Street Pedestrian Bridge, the expansion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, the construction of the Pace Park-n-Ride, and the recently completed Village Green project.
